New melee attack glitch hits Modern Warfare 2

If there's anyone left at Infinity Ward, please fix it

Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came in for a lot of stick after its release due to the prevalence of cheaters, boosters and people abusing its multiplayer. First there was the javelin glitch, then the speed boost hack, before the care package glitch became the tipping point and IW finally got its act together and fixed each and every one. In fact we even wrote an article commentating on how cheaters were spoiling the game.

The intervening months - tactical insertion abusers aside - have been pretty good going with everyone playing fairly and squarly, until now that is.

There's a new glitch affecting multiplayer games, and I experienced it for myself the first yesterday. Basically, the game runs at about 2x normal speed so everyone sprints around like Usain Bolt on speed. But secondly, and perhaps most detrimentally, nobody is able to fire any of their primary or second weapons. Equipment and secondary grenades can be used, and if you have a riot shield equipped it's possible to perform a melee attack, but with everyone charing about so quickly, it's supremely difficult to actually kill anyone.

What's even more confusing is that one player in the game - most likely the person applying the hack - can kill people using the tactical knife attachment for his handgun.

Here's hoping that whoever is still left at IW, after the recent defections to Respawn, can get to grips with this hack and get it fixed sooner rather than later.
